What is SoftPOS?

SoftPOS is a term used to describe software-based Point-of-Sale (POS) solutions used primarily by merchants for in-person sales. Previously the payment would have been processed on a POS terminal when a payment card is either inserted (chip and pin) or tapped (Tap and Go). Tap on Phone now allows for the removal of the POS terminal and a mobile phone/device can be used for the payment card to be 'tapped'.

What is Halo Dot Tap?

Halo.Tap is a SoftPOS solution that have been developed by Synthesis and certified for use with the major card schemes. Halo Dot Tap includes the digital onboarding of new merchants and multiple payment options (Tap on Phone or QR). Halo.Tap comes pre-certified for use and is the most efficient way to launch your own SoftPOS product.

Can Halo.Tap be branded for my business?

Yes, Halo.Tap has a white-labelling feature that allows us to apply your branding to the SoftPOS App. We apply this customisation and deploy the App to the Google Play Store for you.

Is any integration required?

This depends on your Acquiring setup. If you are using one our existing payment processors, no additional work is required. If you need us to integrate via your own processor or switch, then additional once-off development is required. Contact us for more information about this.

Should I use the Halo.SDK or Halo.Tap?

It is ultimately your choice, but the guidance would be to consider the technical capability needed to develop and support modern and secure mobile Apps, including covering the cost for security reviews and certifications. If you don't have technical teams experienced with developing payment apps, it would be best to use the Halo.Tap solution.
